LATAM CYBERSECURITY WORKFORCE

abril 1, 2026

The global cybersecurity talent shortage is well documented. But in Latin America, the gap is structural, not just numerical.

The region now faces ~3,100 cyberattacks per organization per week, roughly twice the U.S. average (Check Point, March 2026). Ransomware breaches surged 78% in a single year, with over 200 initial access brokers actively targeting the region (Intel 471, 2025). Yet only 13% of LATAM organizations are confident in their country’s ability to defend critical infrastructure, and two-thirds report lacking the skilled professionals needed to improve cyber resilience (WEF, Global Cybersecurity Outlook 2026).

These data points highlight a structural mismatch: Latin America is the fastest-growing target for cyber threats globally, but its workforce developed largely outside the formal systems that organizations rely on to find, hire, and retain talent.

The Ekoparty Ekojobs study is the first comprehensive study of the cybersecurity labor market in Latin America, conducted by Ekoparty, provides a detailed overview of the conditions, expectations, and challenges faced by professionals in the field.

This report aims to serve as a practical guide for both professionals and organizations, contributing to the development of better job opportunities and a stronger cybersecurity ecosystem across Latin America.
