Making Privacy Work: production engineering applied to privacy infrastructure

Juan Pablo Borgna

Maintaining privacy requirements demands significant infrastructure and resources, which may come as a surprise to many. As a production engineer, I had the opportunity to contribute to this effort and was amazed by the complexity involved. In this exclusive presentation for ekoparty, I will delve into the challenges we faced and the software solutions we developed to address them. I will also draw comparisons with open-source options and commercial products, while keeping information security top of mind.

Speaker:

Juan Pablo Borgna:
“I pioneered and led the Production Engineering Privacy team at Meta, assembling a talented group of individuals and overseeing its operations. Through the efforts of our team, we significantly contributed to Meta’s extensive privacy infrastructure, embodying the core PE values of reliability, scalability, security, and efficiency. In addition to my role at Meta, I am proud to be one of the founders of the ekoparty security conference. This initiative has allowed me to contribute to the cybersecurity community, fostering knowledge sharing and collaboration in the field of information security.”
